Daptrius chimango (Falconidae), Tiuque (ES)
Also called Chimango is a Bird of Prey species hunting for small rodents and other prey type (Vid. 01) after a tractor plow the dense soil on agricultural land. (Pers. Obs.)
Cathartes aura (Cathartidae), Turkey Vulture (EN)
I could observe these two species on a wet area where also a lot of Black Vultures were. Generally this was a hot spot for birds. It was on the way to Patagonia around 50k away from the Pacific Ocean. (Pers. Obs.)

Coragyps atratus (Cathartidae), Black Vulture (EN)
Ten vultures scavenging on a dead dog (Canis familiaris) (Pic. 01) on the side of the road. Then suddendly some species were fighting over the left overs (Vid. 01). After one vulture took off, two more followed and attacked the escaper while flying (Vid. 02). (Pers. Obs.)



Theristicus melanopis (Threskiornithidae), Black-Faced Ibis (EN)
These Ibisses must be quite common in Chile because a lot of encounters so far. First I saw them flyingalways in pairs, making lots of noice. Later I saw them also on the ground, next to our Cabaña in Puerto Savaadra (Vid. 01) and feeding in a group on a field next to Lake Pudi (Vid. 02). (Pers. Obs.)


Cygnus melancoryphus (Anatidae), Black-Necked Swan (EN)
Pair of two adult Black-necked Swans with two chicks in front of the Palafito hostal in Castor, Chiloé (Pic. 01) and on Lake Budi (Vid. 01). (Pers. Obs.)

Vanellus chilensis (Charadriidae), Queltehue (ES)
This bird I’ve been observing all the way down from Santiago to Patagonia. Sometimes they are in small groups, sometimes alone (Pers. Obs.)


Phoenicopterus chilensis (Phoenicopteridae), Chilean Flamingo (EN)
I saw them the first time a bit outside of Trevelin, Argentina. They were standing in the wetlands. (Pers. Obs.)


Caracara plancus (Falconoidae), Crested Caracara (EN)
I could observe them a couple times on the side of the street picking for food. Medium sized Bird of Prey. (Pers. Obs.)

Megaceryle torquata (Cerylinae), Ringed Kingfisher (EN)
I could perfectly observe this immense Kingfishers while kayaking on the river Espolon in Futaleufú and by the fjord next to Puyuhuapi. Picture from Puyuhuapi. (Pers. Obs.)

Campephilus magellanicus (Picidae), Magellanic Woodpecker (EN)
I was able to observe two females of this species coming back from the trail to the hanging Glacier Ventisquero Colgante in the National Park Queulat, near Puyuhuapi. (Pers. Obs.)
